Semester III
Silver Linings: A light in the Dark
When designing for the Silver Linings Fashion Show, I was inspired by the symbolism of moths across different cultures throughout history. My creative process centered around themes of black and brown and how their pairing is often unfavorable. I used my understanding of photoshop to create a design that was then sublimated on a cotton blend tank top. The skirt was thrifted and then draped in various ways to give it shape and structure.
Semester II
Blood, Sweat, and Tears
With this design, I wanted to convey a message about the duality of femininity. Women are stern, delicate, driven, and motherly. To be a woman isn't to be one thing. I wanted to tie in aspects of the Romantic era with a modern spin to show how the traditional view of female expectations and the modern view of women are contrasted.
Semester I
Wonderland: The Land of Dreams
My first FDSA creation was designed to illuminate the wonderland of our reality- the ocean. I wanted to capture the natural art left in the sand that is left behind when the tide is drawn back. I used fabric texture, fabric weights, and appliqués to convey this concept.
